About Dave

I started crocheting about 2 years ago with the help of various YouTube videos, and taught myself to do caps (with a cuff) and beanies (no cuff) using a technique called single crochet, which, while it is a small stitch, it uses the most material and the projects are time-consuming to make… but again, I am now retired!

I mainly use acrylic yarn, which is lightweight but very warm and machine-wash friendly. It also comes in a wide variety of colors and sizes. I have been making caps and beanies in men, women and children sizes, which I have then donated to the Veterans, hospital cancer units, and Seafarers.

I have come to enjoy crocheting because I get to create something tangible and useful. 15 years in the textile industry early on in my life did not prepare me for the fun of playing with skeins of yarn, colors and patterns. I guess it’s never too late to let the cat in me out!

All the items below are available at Phoenix Lodge for a small donation of $20 each and all proceeds will be donated to charity.
